Sail recycling services

Sail recycling is now available for UK organisations

Sustainable Sailing are proud to offer sail recycling for organisations across the UK, for prices lower than storage or landfill.

How does this work?

We offer two separate services: Sail Bins and Sail uplift.

100 kg (615 litre) Sail bins are available for organisations, to recycle specific sail cloth types. Bins are then picked up at a mutually agreed time and all contents recycled. If your organisation is interested in hiring a bin, please drop us an email to request a quote.

Sails can also be uplifted from mutually agreed locations, such as at the end of racing events or during winter clean-ups. This service will remove specified sails, even if these sails do not fit into a conventional sail bin. If your organisation is interested in sail uplift, please drop us an email to request a quote. This uplift can be reported to ratings and handicapping agencies upon request which, depending upon the class and handicapping system, may result in more favourable ratings for the boat for the following season.

For example, if you are a race team looking to dispose of a container of sails which have reached their end of life, then sail uplift would be a good choice. If you were a sailing club looking to help their members be more sustainable, then sail bins for Dacron, Mylar and Nylon sails might be a better choice. If you are unsure then drop us a line using one of the links above and we work on the best solution for your requirements.

All bins and uplift services include a report detailing the carbon footprint of the recycling these sails, compared to landfill or incineration.
